Taking an elderly parent or a very weak patient to a clinic in Karachi traffic can be hard on everyone. A home visit means a proper examination where the patient is most comfortable, with the family present to ask questions and understand the treatment.

- Adults or children with high fever, vomiting or weakness who are too unwell to travel.

What the doctor can do at home
- Full check-up: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen level and examination.
- Blood sugar check and medicine review for diabetes and blood pressure patients.
- Assessment of fever, infection, dehydration and weakness.
- Injections when they are prescribed and medically needed.
- Advice on lab tests, and review of reports on a follow-up call.
- A clear decision on whether the patient is safe at home or should go to hospital.
How to book a home visit

- Home visits are by appointment. We confirm whether a visit is possible and the time.
- Keep old prescriptions, reports and current medicines ready for the doctor.
Follow-ups after a home visit can often be done through an online consultation, so the patient does not need repeated visits.

If the patient has chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, is unconscious or confused, has fits, heavy bleeding, or signs of stroke, do not wait for a home visit. Go to the nearest emergency department or call Rescue 1122 or Edhi 115.
